Farmers Market Hosts Community Day Saturday

The Columbus County Farmers Market may be known for fresh local produce, but this Saturday, Aug. 12, the organization will be partnering with Columbus Regional Healthcare, Western Prong Baptist Church, and Crossroads Church to host the ‘Kid’s Back to School Fun Day’ and ‘Family Health Day.’

In addition to a free backpack and school supply giveaway, there will also be information exhibits, heavy equipment from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Whiteville Fire and Rescue, and other first responder units on display, free health screenings, inflatables for the kids, and food for everyone to enjoy.

While you’re there, check out great deals on locally grown fruits and vegetables and items handcrafted by local artisans. The market will be open from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 132 Government Complex Drive in Whiteville. For more information about this event or the market, visit the website at www.columbuscountyfarmersmarket.org.
