August 14, 1946 — August 25, 2023
Willie “Bill” Ray Hyatt, 77, of Abbottsburg passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023 while at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Angel House in Whiteville, NC. He was reunited with his beloved wife of 48 years, Connie Hyatt, his parents Willie Hyatt and Lillie Belle Ezelle Hyatt, sister, Patricia “Pete” Hyatt and brother, Ralph Hyatt.
Bill leaves behind his son, Bill LaVerne Hyatt (Connie) of Bladenboro, one brother Richard Hyatt (Anita) of Crusoe, one sister Inez Strickland of Bladenboro, sister-in-law Barbara Beasley, brother-in-law Autry Beasley and one grandson Aaron Hyatt.
Bill was a hardworking, outgoing, loving family man. His wife Connie, his son LaVerne and grandson were his whole world. After Connie passed, he continued to visit her grave and carry her roses daily while he was able. Bill was known to most as being a talker. He could strike up a conversation with anyone about pretty much anything. He had a grand sense of humor and enjoyed sharing stories of his childhood and life lessons.
Bill worked for many years at the Chevrolet Dealership as a foreman of the body shop. He took great pride in his work and didn’t mind redoing something if it weren’t up to his expectations. When not working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, drag racing and watching racing on tv. He made a number of friends over the years and will be dearly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 28th at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Reverend Richard Priest officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Bladen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
