Jay Howard Stanley, 50, of Whiteville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 23, 2023.
Jay was born on July 16, 1973, in New Hanover. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Dianne Ward Hammonds; step-brother, Scott Blackman; paternal grandparents, John Howard Stanley and Pauline Stanley; maternal grandfather, Daniel Norman Ward; uncle, Ronnie Daniel Ward; mother-in-law, Mary Jenkins Medlin.
Funeral services will be conducted at Trinity Baptist Church on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Bradley Tatum and Pastor Barry Swain officiating. Burial will follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church.
Jay was employed by Columbus County Schools, serving as Financial Director. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Jay loved music and enjoyed singing; he was also an avid Jimmy Buffett fan.
To cherish his memory, Jay leaves behind his loving wife, Amy Medlin Stanley of the home; children, Jude Howard Stanley, Elizabeth Jackson (Wesley), and Riley Britt, all of Whiteville; father, Kenny Howard Stanley and wife, Geraldine; maternal grandmother, Irene Ward; step-sister, Michelle Coleman (Brian); cousins, Emily Turbeville (Danny), Elizabeth Edwards (Brandon), and Chris Ward (Julie); father-in-law, Tylon Medlin of Chadbourn.
