One man was jailed after he allegedly cursed at a deputy trying to break up a crowd at the Whiteville football game Thursday.

Javon Geathers, 31, of 4875 Old Lumberton Rd., Whiteville, was charged with disorderly conduct on school grounds. He was released on a $1,000 unsecured bond, according to a detention center report.

The incident occurred at the Wolfpack versus Pender Patriots game Thursday night. The game was pushed up due to anticipated severe weather on Thursday.

A deputy working security at the ball game made an announcement to “clear an area,” the report said. Geathers began swearing at the deputy and yelling in front of a number of adults and children. The deputy asked Geathers to “get in line,” the report said,  at which point Geathers became angry and continued insulting the deputy. He was taken into custody, and booked at 9:15 p.m.
