Emma Lou Suggs Ganus, 89, of Tabor City, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville.
Emma was born on February 22, 1934, in Columbus County, daughter of the late Gardner Odell Suggs and Scottie Mae Milligan Suggs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, D.L. Ganus; children, Randy Ganus and Terry Ganus; grandson, Dan Ganus; siblings, Palmer Odell Suggs and Harold Linwood Suggs.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Old Zion Wesleyan Church (10144 Swamp Fox Hwy E, Tabor City, NC) with Pastor Ricky Bourne and Pastor Billy Roy officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Zion Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church.
Surviving family includes a daughter, Renita Ganus Whaley (Ben) of Nakina; son, Chris Ganus of Nakina; sister, Juanita Russ of Whiteville; “heart-child”, Martha Whaley (Donnie) of Nakina; six grandchildren, Nathan Whaley (Crystal), Tera Worley (Chris), Rachel Boren (Chris), Stacy Ganus, Melissa Whaley, and Charity Cartrette (Ryan); nine great grandchildren, Madison Whaley, Jacob Whaley, Emily Worley, Lacey Worley, Brady Worley, Jackson Boren, Harper Boren, Andrew Ward, and Eden Cartrette.
