Deputy Tyler Reeves has been fighting colon cancer for four years, according to a release from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office. On Wednesday, he was rushed into surgery due to complications from the illness. Reeves was scheduled to have “life altering surgery” in the near future, the release said.

Reeves is best known for his love of children and his positive outlook. He is a 12 year veteran of the agency.

His co-workers and friends are organizing the “Let’s Move Some Butts”  Boston Butt sale to help the deputy. Butts are $30 and will be available Jan. 12 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at 805 Washington St., Whiteville. All proceeds go directly to Reeves to help with medical expenses.
