Series of Shootings Leaves One Hurt

One woman was shot and multiple homes and vehicles were damaged in a series of shootings that began Thanksgiving, according to sheriff’s reports.

It is not known if any of the shootings were related, and all are under investigation.

On Thanksgiving, several homes and vehicles were targeted along Godwin Trail near Chadbourn. The incident was reported at 6:48 p.m. Three homes and two vehicles sustained damage from gunfire, the report said.

Brittany Herring, Tammy Stewart, Henrietta Herring, Matthew Stewart, Tiffany Stewart, Samuel Thompson, Selena Sellers, Necolyia Bell, Lashaay Reaves and a juvenile, Jordan Witherspoon, and Jaharah Vazquez were all in their homes when shots were fired.

No injuries were reported in that shooting.

In another incident, Shanika and Shaheed Hawkins were in their home at 592 Cherry Grove Road, Cerro Gordo with three children when someone opened fire on the property around 2:20 a.m. Saturday. A front door was shattered, and several interior walls were struck by gunfire. No one was injured.

Also on Saturday, a woman was struck in the arm while inside a vehicle at 1309 Clyde Norris Road, Tabor City. That shooting was reported at 5:20 p.m.

Zillah Charmaine Johnson, Jolene Beaonka Johnson and William Troy Giles told deputies someone shot at one vehicle and struck another while fleeing the scene.

EMS treated female with a gunshot wound to the arm at the scene, but the report did not state the victim’s name. No other injuries were reported.

Early Sunday morning, Kimber Swanger, Michelle Smith, and five juveniles were in a residence at 15 Ying Lane, Tabor City  when shots were fired at the home. Several walls were damaged, but no injuries were reported.
