Mr. William Barry Pace 69, of Hallsboro passed on December 8, 2023 in Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Angel House, Whiteville. He was born January 21, 1954 in Columbus County, the son of the late William Pearl Pace and Betty Smith Pace.
Mr. Pace retired from International Paper after 30 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. To those closest to him, he answered most proudly as “Papa” and “Poppy”. His love for the Lord was evident by his roles serving as Sunday School teacher, Deacon and his passion for sharing God’s word with others. He was an avid lifelong hunter who enjoyed listening to a good rabbit chase with his friends.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wilma Duncan Pace; a son, Brandon Nance (Ryan) of Wilmington; a daughter, Amy Clemmons (Grant) of Hallsboro; grandchildren, Mackenzi Clemmons and Brice Clemmons; a great granddaughter, Lillie-Grey Jacobs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Ramona Nance, a granddaughter, Candice Nance; a brother, Terry Pace.
His funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Monday, December 11, 2023 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Pierce Cemetery.
His family will receive friends 12:30 – 2:00 pm Monday at the funeral home prior to his service in the chapel.
