Beverly Stevens Pope, age 86, of Lake Waccamaw, NC, passed away at Lower Cape Fear Angel House, Whiteville, NC, Friday, January 19, 2024. Beverly was born on September 25, 1937 to the late John Purvis Stevens and Bessie Williamson Stevens.
She worked at Federal Paper as a receptionist for 40 years. She was a member of Lake Waccamaw Methodist Church where she played the organ for several years. Beverly played the organ for McKenzie Mortuary as well.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband; Marion Ernest Pope, Jr, and two daughters; Christy P. Jenkins (Jeffrey Morton) of Waxhaw, NC and Debra P. Carter of Lake Waccamaw, NC, four grandchildren; Jessica Jenkins Ridenhour (Jason) of Landis, NC, Joanna Nicole Jenkins of Waxhaw, NC, James Brandon Carter (Hannah) and Valerie Leigh Carter both of Lake Waccamaw, NC.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Lake Waccamaw Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Eason and Rev. Tal Madison officiating. Burial will be in Lake Waccamaw Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm – 1:45 pm prior to the service.
