Fire Danger Continues to be High Today

High winds, dry conditions and plenty of fuel have increased the fire danger for the entire state of North Carolina today.

The N.C. Forest Service and National Weather Service issued a fire hazard advisory Monday. Despite soaking rains of recent weeks, rapidly drying conditions have been created just in time for the spring fire season.

No burn ban has been issued for Columbus County, although Brunswick issued a burn ban today (Tuesday). Outdoor debris burning is against city ordinance in Whiteville in most area towns.

The Forest Service urges that all unnecessary outdoor burning be delayed until conditions improve later this week.
