Marcia Armilda Lister, age 71, of Tabor City, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
Marcia was born September 20, 1952 in Georgia, daughter of the late Albert Whitley and Verona Stone Whitley. She was a hard worker, enjoyed reading, taking care of her plants, and putting together puzzles. She always made her family laugh as they said she was an avid collector of vacuum cleaners, lamps, and Glade plug-ins. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and going to church at The Bridge until her sickness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Jacob Alan Closs, sister, Margie York, and her angel grandchild.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Julian “Butch” Lister of the home; children, John Closs and fiance’ Chrystal of Calabash, Shana Ward of Whiteville, and Jodi Lister and fiance’ Terry of Supply; brothers, Mickey Whitley and wife Libby of Florida, Marshall Whitley of Florida, and LaMont Whitley and wife Tammy of Florida; sister, Bernice “BeeBee” Winters and husband Randy of Florida; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 29, 2024 at eleven o’clock in the morning at The Bridge Church. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from ten o’clock until ten forty-five at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Closs, Matt Faulk, Terry Todd, Matthew Clemmons, Clark Hewett, and Steve Stepka. Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Ward and Brantley Ward.
