Marie Elena Ward Walton 84, of Chadbourn passed on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at her home. She was born January 8, 1940 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Sam Pink Ward and Essie Gertrude Norris Ward. Her husband, Dr. George Walton Jr. preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Ray Royall and husband, Lloyd, and Karen Sheila Walton of the home; grandchildren, Clyde Wesley Stephenson, II of Dunn, James Michael Weber, Logan Tanner Stephenson and wife, Anna Elizabeth of Erwin; great grandchildren, Adalyn Elaine Weber, Grayson Ray Weber, Bentley Gray Stephenson of Erwin.
Preceding her in death are her husband and parents; brothers, Willard Ward, Sam Pink “Pete” Ward, Eldred Waymon Ward; sisters, Evelyn Ward, Geraldine Ward, Edna Gertrude D’Onofrio.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 28 2024 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chadbourn.
Her family will receive friends at 1:00 pm Wednesday at Peacock Funeral home prior to her service in the chapel.
