ernard Lorenzo Benton, 84, of the White Marsh community of Whiteville, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at his son’s home in Leland, NC.
Bernard was born on June 12, 1940, son of the late Rockfellow Benton and Ethel Edwards Benton. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lindsay Benton; siblings, Linda Lanier, Dowe Benton, and Betty Lanier.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Elah Baptist Church in Leland. Burial will follow in the Kings Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Worthington Funeral Home and there will also be a time of visitation from 1:00-2:15 prior to the service on Friday, at Elah Baptist church.
Bernard leaves behind his fiancé, Linda Worrell of Whiteville; two loving sons, Brian Benton (Julie) of Sunset Beach, Brad Benton (Kelli) of Leland; grandchildren, Andrew Benton (Lauren), Aaron Benton (Mikayla), Mary Heronemus (Matt), Jarrett Benton; great-grandchildren, Emma and Kylie; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
