John Calhoun (J.C.) Hyatt, Jr, age 92, of Whiteville NC passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. J.C. was born in Columbus County on July 7, 1932 to the late John Calhoun Hyatt, Sr. and Daisy George Hyatt.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner and operator of Hyatt Exterminating Company for some 40 years. J.C. was a faithful member of Whiteville First Baptist Church where he served as an usher, Deacon and Secretary of his Sunday School Class.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years; Patricia Hinson Hyatt, two daughters; Sharon Hyatt Slate (Thomas) of Kernersville, NC and Gina Hyatt Morningstar (Jeff) of Whiteville, NC, a sister; Judy Hyatt Gore of Nakina, and seven grandchildren; Tanner Morningstar, Grace Morningstar, Elizabeth Slate, Thomas Slate, Kemper Mahanes, Margaret Mahanes and Molly Grace Mahanes.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Whiteville First Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Hillman officiating. A private burial will take place following the service. The family will receive friends in the church parlor from 1:00 – 1:45 pm prior to the service.
