Sidney was a member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. He worked as a recovery operator for Federal Paper for 40 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter; Patricia M. Thompson and his son; Douglas U. Thompson both of Whiteville, NC, his sister; Jennifer Thompson of Durham, his granddaughter; Deanna Thompson of Durham, NC and a cousin; Tommy Thompson of Whiteville, NC.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Dave Heller and Rev. Joshua Connor officiating. Burial will follow at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 1:45 pm prior to the service.
