Eric and Faith are building a great reputation in the Tabor City area with their downhome disposition and tasty treats. Mt. Tabor Manna Cafe is presenting you with a very consumable selection of soups, sandwiches, wraps, and crafted salads, along with a Chef’s Choice entree list. All are fresh-made and offering a unique spin on Southern classics. Although not open for breakfast, brunch offerings are on the menu: eggs, grits, bagels, and a breakfast burrito seem like a good reason to get there early.
One of the establishment’s top sellers is Eric’s take on shrimp and grits, featuring stone ground yellow meal and sausage with a spicy flare that will certainly get you filled up. Another crowd favorite is the Dream Of A Salad with its luxurious honey dressing hitting you right in the feels and balancing almonds with bacon, egg, cheddar, red onions and tomato. Yummy!
Walking into the restaurant you will find inspiring artwork and a spiritual uplift as a part of their overall theme. Ms. Faith greeted me with a big smile and began to share her menu options. She was making a white chocolate coffee for another patron, so I waited patiently as she took care of that order. It looked great. I wasn’t aware that they did full coffee service including specialty drinks, so definitely check that out. No reason to drive all the way to Starbucks for a cup of Joe, when you can get that right here in Tabor City.
My meal was wonderful. It consisted of a Thanksgiving wrap and the velvety tomato basil soup. The wrap is huge. I ate half and doggie-bagged the rest home. Filled with turkey, cornbread stuffing, cranberry sauce and more, it truly filled me up and left me well taken care of. It was a very nostalgic bite. The soup was very nice, warm and giving a solid mouth feel. Full of diced tomato and bold basil, I ended up finishing most of the soup before my wrap cooled.
I love talking about a restaurant that is doing neat things and treats people well, but I guess I have to give them a rating: A solid 4/5 places them “In the zone” with near perfection in service, food prep, and a friendly atmosphere that welcomes you in.
I was assured that you are welcome to drop in and grab a coffee and use their wifi if you need to do some work or just sit and read. I encourage you to find a day to drop by Mt. Tabor Manna Cafe and support our local businesses.
Mt. Tabor Manna Cafe is the green building located behind the TC Post Office at 200 Orange Street. They do have a schedule that takes a little planning ahead, so check Google or call 910.499.1002 for the full listing of hours. They also provide event catering and are happy to do call ahead ordering if you’re in a hurry.
