Jean Fowler Gore

November 28, 1949 ~ December 31, 2024 (age 75)

Jean Fowler Gore, 75, of Delco, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Jean worked for many years as a bookkeeper and dental assistant prior to her retirement.

She loved flower gardening and was very accomplished at crafts including crocheting, cross-stitching and quilting. Jean loved to tend to her flower and vegetable gardens for as long as she was able. She loved horses and in her early years took trail rides with friends and family and won several ribbons in barrel racing and pole bending on her beloved horse Susan. Jean was known to all who knew her as a loving, Christian woman with a huge heart whose love for her family and friends knew no bounds. She loved the Lord and was quick to share her faith with others. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Delco, where for years she served as Sunday School Teacher, choir member and volunteered in VBS and in other areas before she was no longer able to physically attend. Being homebound never hindered Jean’s faithfulness to serving the Lord as she continued to pray for others and witness at every opportunity. She never complained and always found a blessing in every situation, always greeting others with a smile and gentle demeanor.

Jean was born in Green Sea, SC on November 28, 1949, the daughter of the late Charlie Lee Fowler and Jeffie Strickland Fowler of Delco, NC. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Mitchell “Mickey” Gore and son, Mitchell Heath Gore. Also preceding her were her five sisters, Dola Wiladean Fowler, Margaret Fowler Buffkin, Eloise Fowler Coleman, Doris Fowler Bullard and Freda Fowler Bell.

She is survived by her daughter, Deana Gore Truesdell and husband Darryl of Delco; one grandson, Joshua Darryl Truesdell of Delco; and one granddaughter Kyla Brielle Gore of Maxton, NC.  Also left to cherish her memory is her brother, Charlie Philip Fowler, Sr. and wife Dorothy of Wilmington, NC along with many special nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends and extended family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you for the loving care Jean received from the nurses and staff of Lower Cape Fear Life Care while at home and during her stay at the Angel House care center in Whiteville.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Delco with Reverend Mark Talbert and Reverand Cameron Lewis officiating.
