Deputies working on speed enforcement Thursday arrested a man and a woman with five marijuana “joints” in an astray, MDMA pills and fentanyl at Boardman.
Madison Dawn Singletary, 19, and Brantly William Hunt, 18, both from the Lumberton area, were held on multiple drug charges. Singletary was charged with trafficking in MDMA and opiates, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, opiates and MDMA. Her bond was set at $200,000 secured.
Hunt was held on the same charges, along with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver opiates, carrying a concealed weapon, and drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $200,000.
The sheriff’s office reported that deputies were looking for speeding drivers at the Boardman exit on U.S. 74 (Andrew Jackson Highway West) when they clocked a red Chevrolet Cruze going 78 in a 60 mile per hour zone.
Deputies stopped the car, and detected a strong odor of marijuana. Hunt admitted to having marijuana in his possession, the report said, and gave the deputies five marijuana cigarettes from the car ashtray.
Hunt and Singletary were asked to step out of the vehicle so deputies could search the Chevrolet. They found a large bag of marijuana and a set of digital scales; multiple pills, including Alprazolam and Oxycodone Hydrochloride, along with unknown colorful tablets labeled “LEGO”; Two yellow zip bags containing a powdery substance, which tested positive for Fentanyl; drug packaging paraphernalia; and a loaded Taurus G2C handgun concealed beside the driver’s seat. The handgun had a round chambered and a full magazine, the report said.
Deputies were processing the vehicle when they received the call about a chase heading their way from Robeson County. (see related story).
