Jesse Rooks Hammond was called home October 7, 2024 to join our Heavenly Father, March 7, 2025 his wife of 69 years Reba Shepherd Hammond was welcomed at the gate by our Heavenly Father, Jesse and family gone on before, for a most joyous family reunion.
Jesse born Sept. 15, 1929 in Columbus Co. N.C. to the late Lon D. And Edna Rooks Hammond. Reba born Dec. 17, 1938 in Bolton N.C. to the late Otha Franklin and Nita Little Shepherd.
After an Honorable Discharge, Korean War Veteran Jesse served the N.C. National Guard, it was during that time he met the love of his life Reba Shepherd, they were married June 12, 1955, 69 years at the time of his Death.
Jesse and Reba moved to Jackson, Mi. shortly after their marriage and started their life long journey together, where they raised their 2 children Jesse Jr and Brenda with strong family values and a strong work ethic.
Jesse and Reba retired in the early 90s to Paisley,Fl. Paisley was their home until both passed. Jesse and Reba’s wishes were to be buried next to family in Lake Waccamaw Hillcrest Cemetery, Lake Waccamaw N.C.
Jesse and Reba are survived by son Jesse Jr (Patty) Hammond Gobles, Mi and daughter Brenda (Mike) Bregg Paisley FL, two grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Jesse survived by sister’s Alice Creech of Whiteville N.C. and Edna Lane of Laurinburg, N.C.
A memorial service for both Jesse and Reba will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. George Pierce officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Waccamaw Hillcrest Cemetery.
Their family will receive friends at 1:00 pm Saturday at Peacock Funeral Home prior to their service in the chapel.
