A drug suspect in custody at the Columbus County Detention Center died Wednesday night. Marcus Robert Sanders, 51, of Ithaca New York, was discovered dead in his cell around 10 p.m. The State Bureau of Investigation was called in to handle the case.

 

Deputies had to fight a dog and a suspect Wednesday in Hallsboro. Amber Muse, age 49, was allegedly trying to break into a home, and was blocking the roadway when deputies arrived. Muse’s dog allegedly attacked the deputies, who used nonlethal methods to deter the animal. Muse was held under no bond, since she was already out on bond on trespassing and shoplifting charges.

 

Around 200 athletes are expected to participate in this year’s Special Olympics Spring Games, and sponsors are seeking support for the program. This year’s field day is set for April 9 at the Whiteville High School Soccer Field.

 

Tomorrow, April 4 the Columbus County Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services offering a Rabies Clinic for your dogs, cats and ferrets for their yearly vaccine. Leashed dogs, cats & ferrets secured in carriers. 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Browns Outdoor located at 25409 Andrew Jackson Hwy S., Delco.
