The family of a murder victim is suing the City of Whiteville and the State Bureau of Investigation. William “June Bug” Edwards was allegedly shot to death in a Whiteville tire dealership in 2023 by Natrell McKinnies. The suspect was out on bond for the killing of Diondi Sadler. Edwards reportedly witnessed the murder.
The State Department of Health and Human Services is urging North Carolinians to “Fight the Bite” and reduce tick and mosquito borne diseases. In 2024, more than 900 cases of tick and mosquito borne illnesses were reported statewide.
Logan Fowler is back in custody after fleeing detectives in Bolton Wednesday. Fowler, 24, is held under no bond. He was spotted by detective doing surveillance, and fled when he was approached. One of the investigators was bit by a canine during the chase.
