International Paper Opens Grant Application Period

The county’s largest employer is accepting grant applications from eligible non-profits through May 2.

International Paper’s Riegelwood Mill is accepting applications for International Paper Foundation grants at www.ipgiving.com. In 2024, the foundation awarded more than $70,000 in grants to area schools and non-profit groups.

 A press release said the International Paper Foundation makes sustainable investments to address critical needs in the communities where International Paper employees live and work. Signature Causes are:

  • Education – Programs focused on helping children succeed via a comprehensive approach to education. Priority is given to literacy programs from birth through third grade.
  • Hunger – Programs dedicated to improving food security throughout our communities.
  • Health and Wellness – Programs that promote healthy living habits.
  • Disaster Relief – Programs that help communities prepare for and recover from natural disasters.
  • Funding also is available to address environmental initiatives (forests, water and air), employee involvement grants and other critical community needs.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization or qualifying federal entity to apply for a grant. To be considered, organizations must have a program that addresses critical community needs and have measurable objectives to demonstrate impact.

Restrictions – The IP Foundation does not fund salaries, stipends, or other forms of compensation; mortgages, rent or utilities; travel or lodging for groups or individuals; or more than 20 percent of an organization’s total income. Details on grant eligibility, guidelines and restrictions are available at www.ipgiving.com.

Application Process – Eligible applicants must apply online at www.ipgiving.com and select the Riegelwood Mill as the IP facility nearest the organization (there is no invitation code). Applications will be routed to the Riegelwood Mill and must be completed in full for consideration. Necessary documentation includes proposal detail, current year W-9 (2025), most recent audited financial statement or Form 990*; organizational budget; itemized budget for the program to be funded; list of current funders for the program, and list of Board of Directors. All applications will be reviewed at the same time after May 2. 

 

*Please note: As part of the application documentation, the Form 990, Form 990EZ or audited financial statement must be included and dated within three years of the current year.  The Form 990N (postcard), Form 8453-EO, and Form 8879-EO will not be accepted.
