April 20, 1955 ~ April 20, 2025 (age 70)
Jerry Dane Reeves, age 70, of the Buckhead Community of Bolton, NC , passed this earthly life, Sunday April 20, 2025 peacefully at his home. He was born April 20, 1955 in Columbus County, NC to the late Frank Reeves and Lessie Simmons Reeves. Jerry was united in Holy Matrimony on May 28, 1976 to Susanna Patrick Reeves.
Jerry (J.D.) was beloved by his family and in his community. He was a man of strong character and deep love for his family. He had many “titles” depending on who was talking to him, Daddy, Papa, and Uncle J.D. He was a faithful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. J.D. worked as a logger for many years, operating heavy machinery. J.D. was an avid fisherman and loved sharing his hobbies with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Woodrow Stokley, John Henry Stokley, Harold Stokley, Aubrey Stokley; one sister, Mary Lee Smith; and grandchild, Dillon Jacobs.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susanna Reeves of the Buckhead Community, two daughters, Celena Mitchell (Daniel) of Lake Waccamaw, NC, Missy Babson (Dean) of Delco, NC; son-in-law, Billy Young (Jennifer) of Kelly, NC; grandchildren, Caitlyn Mitchell (Quinton) of Lake Waccamaw, Hunter Young (Rae) of the Buckhead Community, Abigail Babson of Delco, Lauren Babson of Delco, Blakley Williamson of Delco, Amber Mitchell of Lake Waccamaw, and Daniel Mitchell (Kanisha) of Lake Waccamaw, ; great grandchildren, Camden Mitchell, baby Young, Aubrey Long, LaKota King, Alex Moore Jr., Lequoia Mitchell, Lilly Mitchell, and Kai Robinson; brothers, Earl Stokley (Mary) of Watha and Marvin Reeves (Martha) of the Buckhead Community; his sister-in-laws, Mary Stokley English (Steve) and Anita English (Don) all of the Buckhead Community; his brother-in-law, Ronnie Patrick (Joyce) of the Buckhead Community; his special friends, Laverne Gaskins (Frances), Tommy King (Kay), Billy Malpass, and Randy Denton; his life long companion, Sugar, as well as many nieces and nephews.
His visitation will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM with funeral to directly follow at 2:00 PM in the Mt. Sinai Holiness Church, Bolton, NC with Rev. Kevin Strickland and Pastor Michael Jacobs officiating. Burial to follow in the Red Hill Cemetery.
