A suspect who allegedly ran from deputies was caught after he tried the same escape again, according to reports.
Dustin Lloyd Long, 30, of 2699 Macedonia Church Rd., Evergreen, was held under no bond on charges of resisting an officer and two counts of assault on an officer. He was held without bond because he was on pretrial release when the new charges were filed.
The sheriff’s office reported that deputies went to Long’s home Monday to serve civil papers, but Long fled out the back door of the residence. Deputies told him to stop, but Long hid inside the home. While law enforcement was securing the scene, the report said, a dog “aggressively approached” one of the deputies, and the deputy struck to dog to defend himself.
While the deputy was distracted by the dog, Long ran out the back of the residence and scaled a fence, disappearing into a wooded area.
Deputies consulted with a magistrate and swore out additional warrants against Long, and returned to the home. The report said Long tried again to flee, but was intercepted and retreated inside. They found him hiding in a bedroom closet and took him into custody without further incident, the report said.
Long was awaiting trial on a series of traffic offenses and other charges, according to jail reports.
