Two Charged with ‘Exploring’ School

Two suspects found misdemeanor citations when they went “exploring” at a former school Thursday.

Deputies were called to Acme-Delco Middle School about a breaking and entering in progress. Deputies spotted the two males, ages 18 and 21, coming out of the cafeteria building and detained them.
“One of the individuals admitted to entering the school to ‘explore,’ citing curiosity related to the filming of The Black Phone at the location,” the report said. He admitted to taking a calculator and returned the instrument. The 911 caller said she saw the two men enter at least two buildings prior to the cafeteria, the report said.

Both were released with citations for misdemeanor breaking and entering, and given a court date of May 12.

The Black Phone was filmed in part at the school. The movie tells the story of a kidnapped youth who receives calls from previous victims on a disconnected phone in the room where he is being held.
