Two people have now been charged in the April 13 shootout at Functionz in downtown Whiteville. Kapri McMillian, 34, was already in jail for the murder of Jaquez Cribbs about eight hours after the shootout on S. Madison Street. Whiteville Police said McMillian and Samantha Crawford have now been charged with firing into an occupied vehicle during the Functionz incident.
A bill eliminating diversity equity and inclusion requirements passed the state house Wednesday, and is expected to do the same in the state senate.
The state board of elections has reviewed nearly 499,000 voter records across North Carolina as part of routine cleaning, as required by law. Most of those removed from the rolls were people who have not voted in at least eight years, are deceased, or convicted felons.
