The driver of the truck that damaged a Columbus County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle May 1 admitted that she shouldn’t have been driving, the report said. Roseanne Deloreta, 63, allegedly backed out of a driveway and into the deputy’s car at a home on Clarendon Chadbourn Highway.

 

Citizen complaints led to an investigation and a raid on a home in Brunswick April 30, netting a quantity of drugs and cash. Joseph Stephens, 48, was jailed under $500,000 secured bond, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

 

On Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office in Whiteville will be hosting a Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony honoring the courageous men from Columbus County law enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
