A plan to build more than 4,500 homes near Lake Waccamaw has been forwarded by the planning board to the Columbus County Commissioners with a favorable endorsement. The homes will be built off Old Lake Road, ~two miles North of East Columbus High School. Commissioners will set a date for a public hearing at their next regular meeting.
A FREE rabies clinic will be held this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until Noon at 819 Farmers Union Road. All dogs and cats need to be on a leash or in a carrier. The clinic is sponsored by Columbus Animal Protective Services.
Jonathan Ferrell Baldwin has been identified as the man shot to death on Browntown Road in Sandyfield Tuesday. Sheriff Bill Rogers said an argument escalated into a shooting on Browntown Road around 7:00 p.m. Baldwin was taken to an ambulance by a private vehicle, and died en route to an area hospital.
