Eric Samuel Slate, age 52, of Loris, South Carolina, passed away at his residence on Friday, May 9, 2025. Born on October 17, 1972, in Greensboro, North Carolina, he was the son of Peggy Sue Slate and the late Vance Homer Slate Jr.
Survivors include his mother, Peggy Sue Slate and his brother, Robert Dean Slate of North Myrtle Beach. Eric is also survived by his cousins, aunts and feline companion, BooBoo. He was preceded in death by his father, Vance Homer Slate Jr.; grandmother, Edith Wyrick; grandfather, Jonah (Jim) Wyrick; lifetime partner, Leslie Todd.
Eric found his passion was farming. He was a proud and active member of the 5 Star Farm family and enjoyed all of the activities of farm life. Eric found joy in working with animals, mowing around the farm, feeding the animals, and loved playing with his cat. His greatest joy was his family and he will be sorely missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory. The Slate family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the North Myrtle Beach Humane Society.
