Graham “Sandy” Cecil Rogers

November 22, 1950 ~ May 14, 2025 (age 74)

Graham “Sandy” Rogers, 74, of Green Sea, SC, passed away on May 14, 2025 at his home.

Sandy was born in Conway, SC, on November 22, 1950, son of James Samuel and Inez Harrelson Rogers.  He grew up in Green Sea.  He graduated from Tabor City High School and had completed his sophomore year at UNC Chapel Hill when he was drafted into the Army.

After his military service, he worked for Hilton Hotels.  He was director of sales and marketing at the Hilton Gulf Shores Resort in Alabama.  He held that same position at Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort.  He had his private pilot’s license.  He and his brother, Jim, joined in several businesses, including a sporting goods shop in Atlanta and a travel agency in Myrtle Beach.Obituary Image

Sandy loved to play golf, frequently referring to the lessons he learned from his daddy, “Mr. Jimmy.”  There was no doubt that both were avid Duke fans too.

He loved to cook, frequently referring to the dishes prepared by his mama, “Miss Inez.”

Eventually, roads took Sandy back to his Green Sea home place.  Very soon, he was warmly welcomed into the farming community through Green Sea Baptist Church.  He enjoyed being a part of preparing Wednesday night suppers and participating in many activities, including outreach and mission projects.  The support and understanding that the church members gave him, and to each other, created a true sense of family.  There, he had friends of faith and faithful friends.

Sandy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James “Jim” Charles Rogers.  He is survived by his sisters, Anna Lyon Rogers and Carole Rogers; a niece, Elizabeth Rogers Ratledge and husband Brian, nephews James R. Rogers and wife Catherine, Edward Hedrick and wife Donna, Jonathan Rogers, Stephen Rogers and their children Jami, Jessica, Edward, Abby, Lucy, John Brian, Jimmy, Charlie, and Bethany.

A memorial graveside service will be held at Myrtle Green Cemetery on June 21, 2025 at 1 o’clock. Charles Brust, pastor of Green Sea Baptist Church, will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Green Sea Baptist Church, P.O. Box 125, Green Sea, SC 29545.
