‘Large Scale’ Lottery Theft Reported

What is being referred to as a “large scale” lottery theft ring is under investigation by the sheriff’s office.

Four books containing approximately $6,000 in tickets were reported missing from the Sam’s Pit Stop in Bolton beginning in March, the report said. The store is located at 1104 Green Swamp Highway. The books were discovered missing during a routine audit.

Sammy Black, owner of the store, told detectives that video surveillance showed one of the tickets being redeemed at the Bolton store.

The sheriff’s office and N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) are investigating. ALE is the primary agency involving lottery investigations in the state.
