We hope that all of our area moms had a wonderful and memorable Mother’s Day! I bet our moms would say that spending extra time with their children and families was the most precious gift of all!
Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Chamber’s 21st Annual Bass Fishing Tournament at Lake Tabor this past Saturday.
A special thank you to those who entered the tournament. We had 19 boats with 27 people registered to participate. Several of those were from neighboring counties.
Congratulations to these winners:
1st Place and Big Fish Winner: Robert Canady & Gage Canady of Hallsboro
2nd Place: Wall Recycling (Owen and Mike)
3rd Place: Walker Mishue of Lumberton.
A photo may be found in this week’s edition of the Tabor-Loris Tribune.
We like to give credit where credit is due by giving a huge shout out to Wall Recycling for donating their cash prize back to the chamber. Their team said they had a great time. As times moves forward we trust that you will find time to visit beautiful Lake Tabor, aka the Millpond.
May and June will hold area graduation ceremonies. Let’s take time to congratulate the youth in our greater area on a job well done. What an achievement, whether graduates are college bound, headed to trade school, the military, or entering the workforce. We applaud your decisions and future successes.
We would love to hear from those who return to our area to live, work, and play. Keep that in mind and drop us an email at tccofc@yahoo.com
Make sure you save the date for this year’s Fireworks Celebration. On Thursday, July 3, we will “Let Freedom Ring” as the glorious red, white, and blue flags wave and the fireworks light up the sky. The Columbus Community Band will open the entertainment portion of the celebration of our nation’s freedom. More will be shared as the date gets closer.
The N.C. Yam Festival gets closer with each day that passes. Plans continue as everyone works diligently to secure vendors, entertainment, awesome parade entries, and much more.
There will be numerous events prior to the Yam Festival’s big Saturday in October. One such event is the Youth Sweet Potato Spring Planting Day on Tuesday, May 27. This event is for all school-aged youth. The location is 103-D East Fifth Street between the Yam Festival office and the Tabor City Library (aka Yam Fest Headquarters). It will begin at 6 p.m. Howard Wallace of the Columbus County Cooperative Extension Service will be our instructor.
The biggest Yam Fest day is Saturday, Oct. 25 and we look forward to seeing you there.
The Greater Tabor City Chamber of Commerce looks forward to serving you as does the N.C. Yam Festival. These two organizations share an office building. Separate offices, same location, with the following days and hours of operation:
Tuesday -Thursday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Should you need assistance outside of these days and hours, please call 910.840.0292.
Remember that we remain “Stronger Together”. We would love to have you and/or your organization as a member. Call the chamber at 910.377.3012.
