Here’s today’s Bottom Line
This is going to be a short report today because there’s not much to talk about.
High pressure will build in from the northwest today. Dewpoint values, a measure of humidity, will drop to around 50 by this afternoon. For reference, “humid” conditions are illustrated with dewpoint values of 60 or higher, while “oppressive” or “miserable” conditions come when dewpoint values reach 70 or higher. Anyway, while we’ll have temps in the mid 80s today, it’s going to be a very dry, comfortable warmth. A weak secondary cold front will drop down over the area tonight, knocking our temps down into the 50s by early Friday morning. High pressure then build across the region… centering over the area Friday night and Saturday. Virtually zero rain chances today through Saturday, with temps running just a hint below normal.
The high pressure starts to push offshore by late Saturday into Sunday, allowing temps to start to go up a few clicks, but we’ll see a return to typical late-May humidity (dewpoints into the 60s), especially by Memorial Day. Thunderstorm chances return by Memorial Day afternoon… not a widespread rain by any means, but just keep an eye/ear to the sky with Memorial Day cookout plans. An area of low pressure will work its way in our direction toward the middle of next week, increasing shower/thunderstorm chances. Guidance is fuzzy on all the details, so I’m keeping the percent levels low at this point. I’ll worry more about it going into next week.
TROPICAL WEATHER FORECASTS are returning as of June 1st, the official start of hurricane season.
