Keith Douglas Wilkins Jr. of Delco took an Alford plea on charges of indecent liberties Thursday in Columbus County Superior Court. An Alford plea means the defendant does not admit guilt but recognizes he could be convicted.
Wilkins molested a 13 year old girl spending the night with his daughter in 2019, according to court documents.
As part of the plea deal, Superior Court Judge C. Ashley Gore handed down a 13 to 25 month suspended sentence, and ordered Wilkins be placed on supervised probation for 24 months, and must register as a sex offender for 10 years. He also must never have contact with the victim or her family.
The victim’s family began receiving threats this morning on social media after Wilkins’ registry sheet on the N.C. Sex Offender Database was published online.
