Edward “Pug” Williamson

March 4, 1928 ~ June 10, 2025 (age 97)

Edward Williamson, lovingly known as “Pug”, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Liberty Commons Nursing Center in Whiteville; he lived a wonderful life of 97 years.

Pug was born on March 4, 1928, son of the late William Jay Williamson and Ethel Nance Williamson. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Nina Mercer Williamson and Louvenia Williams Williamson; siblings,  Wilbur Williamson, Louise Smith, Dorothy Wilburn, Rachel Thompson.

Pug was a lifetime member of Chadbourn Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and the church treasure for many years. Pug held a career in clothing sales for over 70 years, working primarily at JM Jackson Department Store in Chadbourn, Leder Brothers Department Store and JS Manns Department Store in Whiteville, until his retirement. He enjoyed music, especially guitars.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Worthington Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1:00-2:45 Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.

Pug is survived by his children, Janet Gail Greene (Perry) of Monroe, Mark A. Hammonds (Mary) of West Jefferson, Kathy H. Hughes (Philip) of Wilmington, Brenda H. Ward (Chriss) of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Nina Curry (Jeff), Kendel Cichocki, Brenna McLain (Justin), Resa Greene, Courtney Clifton (Justin), Sarah Hester (Ryan), Mary Hannah Hughes, Madison Hughes, Matthew Ward; eleven great-grandchildren, Austin Cichocki, Claire Cichocki, Spencer Cichocki, Ethan McLain, Aaron McLain, Benjamin McLain, Alyssa Curry, Alex Curry, Greyson Clifton,  Hunter Clifton, and Ryleigh Hester.
