Evergreen Man Found Dead in Home

The victim of a May assault was found dead in his home near Evergreen Friday.

Arnold Nance, 70, was found dead in his home on Williamson Road Friday evening. He had apparently been dead for several days. The sheriff’s office is investigating.  It is not known if the May beating contributed to his death.

Nance was taken to Columbus Regional June 2 for treatment after he was viciously assaulted in his home. The sheriff’s office reported that Nance was assaulted May 30, but waited several days before he called 911.

Deputies were called to his home, and spoke with Nance after he was loaded into an ambulance for transport. He told them an unknown male suspect came to his home, dragged Nance outside, then beat and stomped him before leaving him in a nearby wooded area. The suspect took Nance’s cash.

The suspect was described as a slender white male, with sandy blonde or brown hair and a short beard, approximately six feet tall.

The sheriff’s office Criminal Investigative Division is working on the case.
