Aaron “AJ” O’Neal Shipman Jr. (age 25)

November 2, 1999 ~ July 21, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of  Aaron “AJ” O’Neal Shipman 25, of Columbus County was born to Aaron O’Neal Shipman Sr. and Linda Shipman. AJ succumbed to a sudden illness and went to be in the arms of the Lord on  Monday, July 21, 2025.

He was born on November 02, 1999, and lived an exciting life enjoying family and friends. He was a gentle giant and a man of few words, but his presence commanded everyone’s attention earning him the family name of “Big Lou.”

AJ began his career in Public Safety after high school and recently joined the Columbus County Sheriff Department serving as a Detention Officer. AJ loved working out, muscle cars and playing video games in his spare time. He was loving and devoted to his family and friends and would give you the shirt off his back. In his short time here on earth he touched many lives, and his smile will always stay in our minds. AJ was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Earl Harmon Jr and Charles Shipman Sr and Uncle Terry Harmon.

AJ survived by his Father Aaron Shipman Sr. and Mother Linda Shipman, Grandmother Mae Harmon and Edith Shipman, Brother Terrel Harmon, Sister LaCinda Shipman two nieces and three nephews a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great aunts, and great uncles and an abundance of friends. AJ will be truly missed as he was truly a kindred spirit and a gentle giant.

Reverend Alice Graham will deliver the eulogy; burial will follow in Butler Branch Church Cemetery in Fair Bluff, NC
