This past Sunday was National Ice Cream Day, according to Facebook. So naturally the wife and I had to get a cone. It was super hot anyways and who doesn’t need a cool treat on a hot day? She didn’t have to twist my arm to convince me to stop over at Daddy Joe’s and visit the folks over at the Creamery. I don’t hear much talk about this, so I wonder if folks know about this option in our area?
Daddy Joe’s is a RV style campground there in Tabor City, but just outside that is the Creamery. It is open to the public and really does a good job. They definitely have a great shop with both coffee and ice cream available.
Ya’ll know I like my coffee and who doesn’t like ice cream? The fine folks there make some 20+ homemade flavors of ice cream and serve it up in several ways. Cake or waffle cones, dish, or shakes, either way it’s good stuff!
This Sunday I went for a single scoop of the Cookies and Cream while my wife tried a White Chocolate Raspberry variety. Both were great, although the raspberry could have had a little more fruit forward for her taste.
The traffic this day was full and we had a few minutes wait as we got familiar with the flavors. I have been here several times for coffee/shakes in my travels, but this was my wife’s first time. She was impressed with the grounds and the ease of entry and the ordering process.
Service here is done by the youth of our area, which I respect and admire. They have done a fine job every time I’ve been in, and this Sunday was no different. I could tell they had been busy, but they young ladies were professional and took great care of us.
The patio outside the main building boasts swings and picnic tables for you to gather and enjoy your selections. Filled with Hanna Barbera’s characters like Yogi and BooBoo, the environment is fun and very kid friendly. Nature lovers will appreciate sitting by the fishing ponds that attract ducks, geese, and other wildlife just alongside this dining area.
Rating for the Creamery: 5/5 an Encore Worthy Experience!
There’s nothing better than rolling up to a place expecting something and having that expectations met or exceeded! This is a place you will tell folks about and have them join you on your next trip over. It is well worth the trip over from Loris, Chadbourn or Whiteville to grab a cone or a shake and sit under the canopy in a swing to enjoy your frozen treat. Well run and executed, A great job done by all.
As I say each week, skip driving out of town and support our local folks right here in Columbus County. Let’s bring life and energy to our local area businesses. I am open to take your feedback or suggestions.
