Multiple firearms charges sent a Tabor City area man to jail over the weekend. Carlos Register, age 23, of Ten Mile Road was held under a $60,000 secured bond. He was arrested on 3 counts of possession of a weapon of mass destruction, and 4 of possession of a firearm by a felon. Deputies took him into custody Wednesday.

A Tabor City break-in suspect was awakened by police Saturday. John Henry Thomas, age 81, was found asleep with a crack pipe in a back bedroom of a home on Old School Road, TCPD said. He was charged with breaking and entering and drug paraphernalia.

Hundreds of protestors turned out Sunday to speak out against the planned 4,500 home development on Old Lake Road. The march included golf carts and vehicles as well as folks on foot. The protest was organized by the Waccamaw Siouan tribe.
