Brews and Bites: Food Truck Fun with Angel’s Tacos

Angel's Tacos is more than worth a stop when you're in the east end of Columbus.

I have been on a quest as of late to get some love in the eastern side of the county and today I have a little gem to share with you.

The wife and I stopped in yesterday at Angel’s Taco’s, a food truck vendor that sets up in the Riegelwood area, usually in the eastbound plaza near the truck stop heading towards the county line on 74.

The selections are simple, and delicious.
The selections are simple, and delicious.

With food trucks you can never judge a book by it’s cover. It’s kinda like the old adage with the BBQ joint, “If it’s hard to find, a hole in the wall, and looks run down, it’s probably great!” Angel’s truck is neither hard to find nor run down, It was neat and clean with menu info clearly deployed with vinyl wraps and easy to see signage. So have no fear when stopping in for dinner pickups Tuesday through Saturday,  5-9 p.m.

The menu is simple and efficient: Tacos, Tortas, Quesadillas, Enchiladas, and a signature chicken sandwich in your choice of Pastor, Asada, Pollo, or Carnitas. They have a daily special available some days and tamales are fresh made on Fridays.

I found it very easy to order and communicate with the staff. We ordered tacos in both Pastor and Asada varieties. House standard fixings were onions, cilantro, and cheese with a cup of green salsa and a slice of cucumber. Angel jumped right on the order and they were prepared fresh in just a few minutes, plated to-go and wrapped in foil.

Servings were generous, and served fresh.

This was my first time eating with Angel and their offerings were very good. Moist and packed with flavor. Serving size was perfect as we had two each. Angel very politely gave us each a tamale to try, and those were good as well. Admittedly I’m not an expert on tamales, but I do enjoy the profile of a fresh cooked bundle of love. I like the red variety more than the green, but won’t turn down any if offered… also that may be why I have a weight problem!

I need to have a second tier just for food trucks, as I have said repeatedly “I can’t give 5 stars to a place that I have to stand up to order or serves me on plastic or foam plates”.

I have to rate the experience 4/5 as they are definitely “In The Zone” I found this food really solid and modestly priced. Service was friendly and the area was clean and neat. To reconnect us with the book analogy from earlier, Angel’s Tacos is a must read. Feel welcome to stop in there and visit the truck as you are heading down 74 for a quick taco truck dinner. It’s a quality read!

As I say each week, skip driving out of CoCo and support our local folks right here in Columbus County. Let’s bring life and energy to our local area businesses.
