A Bladenboro man will serve up to 53 years in prison on child sex offense charges.
Jessie Lee Dixon, 73, was convicted of two counts each of indecent liberties with a minor and sexual battery in Bladen County Superior Court on Friday, according to the District Attorney’s office. Judge Jessica Locklear sentenced him to 483 to 640 months in jail, or 40.25 to 53.75 years in prison.
A press release said Dixon “exploited a relationship with a family member” to gain access to the female child. Dixon was arrested in 2019, according to court records.
The District Attorney’s Office thanked Det. Jennifer Popynick with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, staff from Bladen County Schools and Carolyn’s Kaleidoscope Children’s Advocacy Center. The state was represented by Chief Assistant District Attorney Valerie Pearce and Legal Assistant Kayla Wright.
