Claudia “Wanda” Suggs Stevens, 83, of Tabor City, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at her home.
Wanda was born on June 2, 1942, in Tabor City, NC she was the daughter of the late Lucian Pinkney Suggs and Sarah Frances “Fannie” Graves Suggs.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank Stevens; her parents, and four of her siblings, brothers, Lloyd Suggs, Raymond Elroy Suggs, and Howard Suggs; and sister, Ola Mae Suggs Sellers.
Wanda graduated from Nakina High School. Her family moved frequently due to her husband’s occupation, therefore she held a variety of jobs. She spent several years as a representative for Art Schools of America traveling NC, SC, and VA before she retired. Her favorite, though, was performing country music, she was an avid song writer and loved singing. She and her band performed all over NC, SC, and the Eastern United States.
Wanda’s life and love will be remembered by those who knew her. She was a giving and loving person with a heart of gold.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Worthington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Dulah Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-2:45 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel on Monday.
She is survived by her son, Frankie Joe Stevens; granddaughter, Jennifer Harkey; and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Estelle Stanley, Mazie Smith, Eloise Hutto, and Ann White; and a special friend, Earl Causey.
