
ELIZABETHTOWN – The Victory Bell will stay in the Elizabethtown for one more year as the Eagles defeated West Bladen 26-0 in football Friday night.
Being an early season matchup, the rivalry was plagued by penalties and mistakes.
West Bladen took the opening drive, only to fumble at their own 39 on the second play of the game. Eight plays later, Keyshaun Kemp took it in from the one on fourth down to give the Eagles their first score of the game. Deshon Campbell converted the two-pointer to give East Bladen an 8-0 lead with 6:54 left in the first quarter.
West Bladen got the ball back with good field position on a squib kick by the Eagles at their own 40-yard line. West Bladen got a first down on a pass from Devan Haire to Hunter Hester for 14 yards, only to fumble the ball back to the Eagles two plays later. The Eagles took the ball down the field and score three plays later on a two-yard run by Kemp to give East Bladen a 14-0 lead. The Eagles failed on the PAT. The score would remain 14-0 until the half.

The teams exchanged possessions throughout the third quarter until Jaden Lewis broke the game open with a 51-yard dash to push the Eagles lead to 20-0 with 32 seconds left on the clock. Lewis, who finished the night with 155 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns, and he would score again with 7:04 left in the fourth to put the game away, 26-0.
The Eagles (2-0) were paced by Jaden Lewis and Keyshaun Kemp, who rushed for two TD’s. The Eagles defense put in another strong performance, allowing West Bladen less than 140 yards of offense.
East Bladen will travel to Whitevile (1-1) next Friday.
The Knights were led by Devan Haire, who threw for 38 yards and ran for 30. West Bladen (0-2) put in strong performances on defense. Hunter Hester led the Knights with 10 tackles and a fumble recovery. John McDowell had nine tackles while Justin Spaulding recorded eight.
The Knights will host West Columbus (0-2) on Sept. 5.
