Thursday at Vineyard Golf of White Lake, Mark Mendell, Anne Beyer, Tony Stewart, and Dustin Maitland took first place in the Thundering Herd with a -6. Second place went to Blake Davis, Jag Gooden, and Patrick Maitland, who shot a -4.

SFGA
In the SFGA tournament held Tuesday at Land O’ Lakes in Whiteville, Joey Todd, Johnny Wallace, Bobby Gooden, and Rudy Taylor took first place with a 57. Marvin Eaton, Bradley Butler, Rob Conway, and Bradley Butler shot a 59 for second place. The teams of John McGougan, Larry Jarrell, Roger Candy, Chris Smith and Jeff Smith tied with Elvin Meares, Timmy Thompson, and Jerry Strickland for third with 61’s.

Land O’ Lakes Championship
Land O’ Lakes has scheduled its Club Championship for Sept. 13-14. Saturday tee times begin at 10 a.m. and Sundays start will be at 1 p.m. Players will be flighted by tees/handicaps and prizes awarded for gross winners in Blue tee flight and gross and net winners in all other flights. Flights are Blue tees, White tees, Gold tees (65 and over), Red Tees (75 and over), and Red tees (ladies). Entry fee will be $50 per player. To register, call 910.642.5757.
Bay Tree VFD Tournament
The 22nd Annual Bay Tree Volunteer Fire Department golf tournament is scheduled for Sept. 13 at Vineyard Golf of White Lake. Registration and check in will begin at 8:30 a.m. and start at 10 a.m. Awards and a meal will follow after the tournament.
There will be longest drive, closest to pin, and putting contests along with two opportunities to win either a car or $20,000 for a hole-in-one. Cost is $65 per person or $260 per team.
