
The International Paper fluff plant in Riegelwood has been purchased by American Industrial Partners (AIP), according to a press release from the company.
AIP is a “focused industrials investor,”, according to its website. The firm announced Thursday that its affiliate has signed an agreement to acquire the Global Cellulose Fibers division of International Paper.
GCF is the leading global producer of high-quality absorbent fluff pulp for a wide range of personal care applications including feminine care, incontinence, infant diapers, and other products, the press release said. IP’s
GCF division is also a leading producer of fluff pulp, high quality softwood pulp, and modified fibers. It has plants in the U.S., Canada and Poland, and approximately 3,300 employees. The company generated approximately $2.5 billion in annual revenue in 2024.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of required regulatory approvals, and is expected to close later this year 2025.
