Rhett Armelin Pierce

October 9, 1967 ~ August 27, 2025 (age 57)

Rhett Armelin Pierce, of Hallsboro, NC, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025.  A devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and strength that will live on through all that knew him.

Born and raised in Hallsboro, Rhett attended and graduated Hallsboro High in 1985.  He remained a proud member of the community his entire life.  He began his career in law enforcement, serving in narcotics, before transitioning into industrial construction and maintenance planning/scheduling, where he worked for many years with dedication and skill.

An outdoorsman at heart, Rhett found his greatest joy hunting, and spending time outside.  He developed a love of the outdoors early in life.  Whether he was tending to a fire, or elbow propped up on the truck simply enjoying the quite beauty of nature, the wilderness was his sanctuary.  He had a sarcastic sense of humor, and gift for storytelling, often recalling adventures while at the farm with family.  He was always happiest under an open sky with a good “ole time” story and good company.

Above all, Rhett cherished his family.  His wife, children, grandchildren, and parents were the center of his world, and he will be remembered for his steady love, guiding hand, and joy he brought to us all.

He is survived by his wife; Lisa Pierce, daughter; Madeline Pierce (Billy McCumbee), son; Armelin Pierce, daughter; Miranda Freudeman (Bryan), daughter; Tori Penrose (Cameron), parents; Van and Donnie Pierce, sister; Scarlet Folsom, and six grandsons; Laythan, Dawson, Pierson, Christopher, Gabriel and Nolan.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at McKenzie Mortuary.  A graveside service will be held Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Pierce Family Cemetery, Dupree Landing, Hallsboro at 3:00 pm.

Rhett will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the way he lived fully, his sarcastic sense of humor, and unwavering love.

McKenzie Mortuary, 112 Jefferson Street, Whiteville, NC is serving the Pierce family.
