Stephanie Leanne Benton Ward, age 40, of Whiteville, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Columbus Regional Healthcare. Stephanie was born in Columbus County on June 19, 1985 to Kenneth Earl Benton of Hallsboro and Nancy Garrell Benton of Whiteville. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents; Jerry Garrell, Hilda and Harold Duncan, and her paternal grandfather; Lucion Benton.
Left to cherish her memory in addition to her parents are three sons; Diesel Ward, Bronson Ward and Aydan Ward all of Tabor City, three daughters; Challey Ward (Bluebird), Paislee Ward and Brison Ward also all of Tabor City, a sister; Jessica Benton (Chris) of Whiteville, a brother; Kevin Benton (Emily) of Hallsboro, three nieces; Brookelynn, McKinzlee, and Wrenleigh, and two nephews; Kaeson and Jaese.
A funeral service will be held in the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 3:00 pm with Dr. Dave Heller officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:45 pm – 2:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
