
In Vinegar Hill, East Bladen rolled past South Columbus in soccer Thursday 9-2. Ishaq Algozy scored three goals and had three assists to lead the Eagles, who are now 2-3-2 on the year. Salvador Estrada scored two goals and had an assist while Andrio Gargia scored a goal and dished out two assists for East Bladen. South Columbus falls to 0-6 for the year. The two will have a rematch on Monday in Elizabethtown.
In Dublin, Alejandro Lopez and Gerson Verdugo scored goals to lead West Bladen past Pender 2-1. The Knights go to 2-3-1 for the season. Dylan Hernandez provided five assists for the Knights. Eduardo Morales scored the only goal for the Patriots (0-6-1). They will play again on Sept. 10.
In Whiteville, West Brunswick got the better of the Wolfpack 2-0. The Trojans (5-1) got goals from Henry Phillips and Eli Grande. Whiteville will host Purnell Swett (5-2) on Sept. 8.
In Fayetteville, East Columbus defeated Douglas Byrd 7-2. The Gators are now 2-1 for the season. They will travel to North Duplin (0-1) on Monday. Douglas Byrd goes to 0-2 on the season.
