West Bladen Downs Whiteville in Double OT 3-2
WHITEVILLE–West Bladen rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to beat the Wolfpack in double overtime 3-2 in soccer Wednesday.
Jonah Bryan hit the game winner with five minutes to go in the second OT. Jason Valasquez scored a goal and Bryan scored a goal in the second half to tie the score. Bryan had an assist to go with his two goals for the Knights.
West Bladen goes to 1-0 in Southeastern Conference play and 3-5-1 overall. They will travel to St. Pauls (0-0, 5-3-2) Monday, while Whiteville (0-1, 2-8-2) will host South Brunswick (1-0, 4-4-3) on Monday.
Eagles Blank Vikings 6-0
CERRO GORDO – East Bladen got three goals and an assist from Ishaq Algozy to lead the Eagles past West Columbus 6-0. Jayce Hatcher scored two and Tyler Eason contributed a goal as the Eagles go to 2-0-1 in the Carolina Conference and 5-3-3 overall.
They will face Union (2-1, 7-4) on Monday. West Columbus falls to 0-4 in the conference and 0-4 overall. They will travel to Hobbton (2-0-1, 3-6-1) on September 22.
Union Defeats Gators Soccer 7-1
DELWAY – Union downed East Columbus 7-1 in men’s soccer. The Gators (1-1, 3-4) will host Lakewood (2-1, 2-7) Monday, and Union will go to East Bladen (2-0-1, 5-3-3).
