Soccer Action

In Mount Olive, East Bladen’s Ishaq Algozy put in three goals to lead the Eagles past North Duplin 5-1 Monday afternoon in soccer.

Jayce Hatcher also added two goals for the Eagles, who are now 1-0-1 in the Carolina Conference and 4-3-3 overall. Hatcher gave the Eagles the early lead with a goal two minutes into the contest. Algozy added two goals also in the first half to give the Eagles a 3-0 advantage at the break.

East Bladen will travel to Cerro Gordo to take on West Columbus (0-3) on Wednesday, while North Duplin (1-2, 1-3) will travel to Hobbton (1-0-1, 2-6-1).

At Whiteville, Pender pushed their soccer record to 2-6 for the season with a 4-1 victory over the Wolfpack. Whiteville, who fell to 2-7-1 for the year, will host Purnell Swett (6-3-1) on Tuesday, when the Patriots host East Carteret (0-5).

Volleyball

On Monday, South Brunswick defeated Southeastern Conference foe Whiteville in volleyball 3-0. The set scores were 25-15, 25-16, and 25-9.

Whiteville (0-2, 1-8) will play at Fairmont (0-2, 2-9) on Tuesday. South Brunswick (2-0, 6-4) will go to South Columbus (2-0, 6-6) Tuesday.

Tennis

Whiteville lost to South Brunswick 9-0 in Ladies Tennis on Monday. The Cougars are now 2-0 in the Southeastern Conference and 6-2 overall. They will play at South Columbus (3-0, 3-1) Tuesday. Whiteville (0-2, 0-5-1) will go to Fairmont (0-2, 0-6) Tuesday.
